Identify my Honeysuckle.

Hi everyone. I have several varieties of honeysuckle growing in my garden. This one was planted in a large pot last year. It is doing very well. Flowers are much darker in color than what I consider 'normal' honeysuckle to be. What variety is this?

This picture is of my 'normal' variety of honeysuckle. Much paler. Another variety is paler yet, as well as having smaller flowers. It blooms later.

The deeper colored honeysuckle was a discounted plant from Rona. Tag just says 'Honeysuckle'.

Thanks for any information! By the way, hummingbirds just love the honeysuckle and heuchera flowers.

No, they are not the same. 'Serotina' is a cultivar of L. periclymenum. 'Goldflame' is a cultivar of L. x heckrotti, a hybrid suspected to be a cross between two US species, Lonicera sempevirens and americana.

There is a strong visual similarity between the two, however, and your vine could well be 'Goldflame'.

Looks like Lonicera periclymenum. There are a number of cultivars that look very similar....Serotina, Fragrant Cloud, Peaches and Cream.

'Serotina' is more deeply colored than others. Including having a purple foliage cast. One wholesale company put it out for years as 'Gold Flame'. So a percentage of end consumers will have a false concept of 'Gold Flame'.

Embothrium is 'Serotina' the same plant as 'Goldflame'?

I have 3 of these. They call mine the 'gold flame' and it's very fragrant..+

Does anyone know how tall 'Goldflame' is? What about the other possibility 'Serotina'? I am growing my two vines in very large pots. They are doing really well at the moment.
