How do I put this...TOO MUCH WOOD !!! White wash the cupboards at lease to tone down the brown. Your room is devoid of colour. Get rid of the curtain over the sink. Forget that little corner table add a sideboard and set up a coffee bar and to hide your stuff that is on top of the cupboards. Your counter matches your floor, actually looks like flooring -add some colour to your room with new counters.

I agree. Wood is beautiful, but you have basically two colors - wood and whatever the floor and tiled ctop are. Obviously, the cabinetry is going to cost the most to totally replace, but it looks like they are in good condition. If you want to leave them there, I would still get new SS appliances, and also go for a simple 12" x 12" tile (on a diagonal to make the room look bigger) and do a new countertop (that is a different color than the tile and cabinetry. You won't believe how much of a difference that investment (~ $2-$3k for ctops and ~ $3-$4k for flooring) will make in this room!

Your counters look better but still too much wood. Your dining area looks bare. I'm guessing privacy is not an issue so really don't need curtains however put side panels on each of the windows will add colour and texture. Still think you need a sideboard or a side table of some sort, under the window that you have the draped fabric and add some buffet lamps (these are tall and thin)
