the emitters come in different flow rates and it sounds like yours are letting out too much water. i would half the volumn of the emitters and increase watering time to once a day for an hour. We are in the desert and only run ours once every three days.

It would be quite a process to replace all of the emitters, especially since they’re all buried under gravel. The soil where I live in Northern Utah is clay, so I may just have to run the water is shorter increments to give the soil time to absorb the water.

Did you put emitters into the 1/2 inch tubing and then put the 1/4 line out to plant? we always put a barb fitting into the 1/2 tubing to the 1/4 lines and then install emitters on the end so they are sticking up out of the ground and easily replaced if they get clogged from hard water or we need to resize.

Yes, that’s exactly what our landscaper did. See the attached photo. Since we have clay soil, I’m experimenting with cycle and soak. At first, I ran the program for 20 minutes non-stop. I then had it cycle for 5 minutes and soak for 5 minutes. Was still getting runoff, so now I’m cycling for 1 minutes, soaking for 5 minutes. I think it’s helping.
