Put the TV somewhere else? If a professional onsite who has seen the stone work states that then they know better than we would for sure.

Unfortunately there are no other walls to put it on!

If the fireplace is flame-burning, I’d worry about having a TV that close to the heat and smoke (most fireboxes leak). But if that’s not an issue, I say create a second ”mantle” under the one that is too high for you and place the TV where you want it. You can either cover the space between the 2 mantels with wood or not. You might consider putting heavy corbels on either side of the new mantle to create the illusion of supporting a heavy overhang.

Need more photos and layout with doors, windows to provide suggestions. Agree TV over fireplace is bad karma, sore neck and 2 black holes if niether is being used.

I like ital mover’s idea except the stone shelf extends 10 inches from the wall!

It’s a gas fireplace. There is no wall at all to the right and to the left is a wall of windows.

I would reconfigure the bookshelves and choose one side for the fireplace. Then you have a beautiful fireplace, a sturdy (correct height) tv and no damage to the stone. Bookshelves are easier to change than stone.

I meant one side for the television.

knowing it would jut out considerably is why i suggested heavy corbels, from the mantle to the floor. it would look almost medieval, or adirondack lodge, so maybe the room just couldnt carry it. If i can find a picture i'll post it

The TV to go on either side on an articulating arm remove the shelves hang the TV on the wall on either side and a nice pice of art to balance it on the other side the bonus you eliminate a bunch of clutter on the shelves too

so essentially im saying make a box big enough to attractively hang the tv on the frint of it and enclose/hide the original mantle so it disappears. Position the box for optimal tv viewing, and set it on massive corbels

these upper boxes would need to be sized for the tv but it gives you an idea of whether it would be a solution for you

We bought a house with the exact looking stone fireplace. The previous owners left their pull down tv mount. It’s surprisingly easy to pull the tv down to eye level for viewing.
