We are in the process of getting our basement finished. The framers came out yesterday and framed it as the picture below with a drop due to the beam running across. This would make our basement two various heights 8.5 feet and 9.5 feet. The area is about 18 feet depth x 24 feet wide. The bedroom will be uniform at 8.5 feet.

The area that’s lower we are planning on putting a large section and then a projector screen against the wall that is taller.

Should we ask them:

1) keep as is

2) make all uniform at approx 8.5 feet

3) ask if there is any option to cover around the beam and make the rest uniform at 9.5 feet
