Threads and Needles was an impulse buy. It remonds me of Tattoo which did ok for a few years before slowly disappearing.

I almost ordered Tobacco Road, so close. Hope to live vicariously through yours. I would think that and Stag's Leap would take your prime viewing and sunny areas.

Thanks, Steve, for the insight. I was hoping Tobacco Road could be front and center, Stag’s Leap is a bonus. I am terrified to actually plant in the ground as that always seems to be the death knell for me and hostas. I have a soaker hose hanging in my garage, would that be a good idea for this sunny bed and hostas?

Why do Hosta die in your ground? What's your soil like? I'd keep those in a pot until you figure that out.

In California, I lived on soaker hoses and timers. Here in Ohio where it rains, I just use a sprinkler when necessary. I bought some soaker hose (on sale), just never got around to using it (yet).

I’m actually not going to plant any of these right now. I lost 80% of my Hosta last night so I’m at a giving up point today. These are all still in a tub so I may drive down to my friends place and give the to her.

Oh, Annette. That is terrible. It has been so hot and dry, alternating with excess rain/deluge. I am sorry your plants died, and after such investment. I have trouble growing my hosta directly in the ground, too. Good luck on new beginnings with whatever you plant.

Deer got almost everything last night. We bought this cabin(that I have hated since before we bought it) as my husband loved the location right on the river. After sem- living here for a few years, we finally got everthing moved up last winter. So this spring I decided since the house is not worth spending time on I’d focus on the outside to try to make a place I can enjoy(even though it is totally reversed of what is generally considered optimal siting, front yard faces mostly south/southwest). So now every conifer I planted last year but one has died and the deer got the hostas and most of the heucheras. I’m slated to start back at work on Wednesday, so I’m closing the door on gardenening for the season. I’m just going to let the chips fall where they may and see what if anything returns next year.

Annette, it sounds like the best decision right now. Gardening is stressful and only worth it when it has a beneficial aspect.

When you said you ’lost them’ I wondered what that meant. I am so sorry for you! Yes, take time to process options. I hope you can get to a point where your garden brings you joy again.

That is heart wrenching. We battle deer here, but I'm sure its much easier here. Not sure my neighbors would agree.

Is there anyone close by that wants to come pick up the order I’m not going to bother planting? Im in Cherry Log, Ga, about an hour north of Atlanta. 10 hostas(see list above) 6 heucheras, some brunnera, a tuff stuff hydrangea, 2 lamium.

Oh, I wish! I am in central NC, about 9 hours away. Put them on the deck, bridge if no one is claiming them. The deer may be shy about coming onto the planks.

Yikes, Steve! Do you put up a sign in your yard to advertise your neighbor’s Hosta? If so, where can one buy such a sign, theoretically?
