arent there embryonic roots on the bottom of that end part??? ... look close .. bet there is ...

i would cut it right between the two pieces.. and set it moist media.. in a right side up plastic bag left open ... and it will root down into the media ...

i would not bury it.. because i dont want the stem part to rot and somehow spread to the good part ... if it dries an falls off eventually.. super ....

the baggie just add a little ambient humidity.. and might also hold up the cutting while it roots ...

if you are doing it in water.. that..imo .. is probably your problem ..

its not going to grow a vine straight out of you previous cut... its basically going to start a new plant at the node prior to the cut.. and then that will vine anew ... leaving kind of an ugly spot.. until the leaves cover it all up and you forget about it .. lol ..

By cutting the tip, you have inspired this stem to make two vines where it was only 1 before.

Let me elaborate, is there a way to cut the vine with 2 nodes and multiples leaves (left side, in my hand) to encourage branching like the vine (on the right side of this picture).

I would like to insert a question: how often do you water your pothos? Mine is in almost direct sun in a large southern window. The leaves seem to like to turn yellow no matter what I do. I have been watering about every 3 or 4 days, lighlty. Please comment.

Woodnymph, not enough information to determine, but generally, lifting your pot should help you feel if it is more lightweight than when it is just-watered and the soil is thoroughly moist. The rate at which your plants' soil dries would depend on temperature, amount of sun, air movement, size of plant compared to size of pot, humidity... so many variables.

Your goal should be to add more water and thoroughly moisten the soil before the soil has completely dried. If there is a drain hole, take it to a sink to water so can add enough water to make sure all of the soil is evenly moistened, and the excess water can drip away.
