I'd try painting the entire garage (and door) the darkest color in your brick to help it visually disappear. Then, redo your landscaping to bring the focus of the eye to the house - right now, those bushes bring your eyes directly to the off-centered garage door and shed roof...make sure to add landscaping on the left side of your home, too. Use lots of curves, colors, textures, heights in the plantings so everything doesn't look so square and to soften the yard. If you can, remove the landscaping and rock that leads from the street to the garage. Add a trellis with greenery next to the garage door.

That would work nicely and easy to find a trellis to fit the space.

I would go with ivory. The light color siding is not much different and I would prefer a factory finish. Get a garage door with windows. I would remove your shutters and relocate the tall bushes that line your driveway.

In no small part because of the slope of the garage roof, you should consider making the garage door and frame and the fascia along the roof above the door the same color as the exterior siding as that will help it visually disappear (rather than drawing attention to it). You want the front entry door to be the focal point of the front of your home.

yes, suezbell, I had thought that the red rake trim along the roof line might be better if it was ivory (or white).

Hmm, not so sure about removing the top shutters. Maybe the house would look too 'plain' or boring? But that's a great idea to take off the bottom shutters - I'd just never thought of it before. That mock-up convinced me! (thank you Houssaon!) We've lived here just over 1 year. I have plans to put a planter to the left of the entry (balancing out the one on the right). It's just taken a back seat with all the other remodeling we've done!

Something you might consider is to create a small front yard patio on the left side of your porch or, even without the patio, and create a green fence twelve feet or so away from the house for privacy and curb appeal, choosing a bush that will keep its leaves and look good all year long -- perhaps check to see if Aucuba grow well in your time zone.
