Coretec Calypso Oak and stairs

Trying to figure out stain to match our calypso oak floors for the stairs....I think our biggest hurdle is red oak stair treads!

You are not going to get it to match. I would intentionally go different just so it does not look like you tried to match and missed.

I have paradigm citadel floors with red oak treads. I was told the same thing- you cant match them. Well, I did. It can be done. It just takes persistence. After a failed attempt at a custom stain from SW, I ended up using rubio monocoat precolor in mint. The green helps get the red out. Then I used weathered oak mixed with classic gray stain over that. It was a bear, 100%, but honestly I’m shocked myself and how well it matches. will post a pic when I get home!

Did you ever find a stain ?

Did you follow the formula M R shared? We are going to install calypso oak LVP and we have red oak treads that are stained walnut. Were your stair treads previously stained and you sanded?

Stairs look great in the pictures above.

I want to know about your front door.

Please share where you got it and what brand. It is beautiful. My little front door is in desperate need of an upgrade. 22 years old.

We ordered the door through a supplier locally but I’ll post a link for the company its from. We we had the door stained on site using Jacobean.

Ashley, what did you do about the color match between the treads at the flooring? We're navigating the same situation, and your finished hall looks great!

Ashley Mares it’s gorgeous !! Love the built ins! Thank you for letting me know the paint colour. I hope you will keep the pictures coming.

Yes please share the match you did for red oak stairs? I have the exact same situation going on and am struggling to find a stain match to calypso oak on red oak.

I wish I had the answer but the company staining mixed up some mixture. It did have to be done twice because the first time it was an awful match. I’m sorry I’m no help.

Ashley Mares what stain color is on your stair handrails and caps on your newel posts? That looks like a really good match to the floors. I'm looking for a color for my hand rails to match calypso oak.

I wish I knew what they used so I could pass it on! It took several attempts and lots of stress and tears! White oak would have made it easier to match instead of the red. Sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Thanks for the response Ashley. I'm not to the tears stage yet but close! lol

We have installed Cortec Calypso and did Oak wood for the stairs. What does your transition piece look like. An what stain did anyone use?
