Help for zellige tile install

I just had my backsplash installed in my kitchen. It is a tile similar to the Cloe white zellige. The installer mentioned that he would open all the boxes and make the color variations random. Instead, he made what appears to be a pattern! i immediately contacted my contractor when I saw the problem and he said ”we will see what can be done”….will they have to tear it all out, or can it be fixed? I am in a smaller town and cannot get extra boxes of tile very quickly.

That's so crazy, like why?! And how? We have that tile and installed it ourselves, we literally just pulled tiles out of the box randomly didn't even think about it. He must have really had to comb through to find all the colors and probably took a lot of time to actually get the pattern like that. Makes no sense!

Only way to lose the pattern would be to tear it out and start over. Tile may get damaged so hopefully he has the ability to get more. That would bug the crap out of me as well as that looks awful.

only way that can be fixed is a re-do. did you ask him wth he was thinking?? what an ass-hat

and HE needs to buy the new tile and re-do at HIS cost!

Really and BTW random is the most difficult layout possible why was the layout changed from one area to another at all.

Oh no! That’s not “random” at all! Looks like he just concentrated on making every other one dark - he probably didn’t even “see” the pattern until it was too late :(

I have about 30 extra tiles left. Was hoping there was some way to remove some of them here and there and replace in order to break up the pattern. I have called around trying to get more of the same tile so they can re-do the bottom half. None in stock for weeks. 😢

Are the tiles already set so you cant take them off wall and reuse? I was at F&D today they only had 3 1/2 boxes but another store has more in stock.

Yes, tiles were completely done yesterday. I mentioned my displeasure within one hour of the tile crew leaving, but nobody returned, so I am assuming they wont easily come off now. I am meeting with the contractor tomorrow. Our nearest F and D said they have more tile on order, but it will be 2 weeks. That is why I was hoping to find a way to fix by removing individual tiles.
