Compare to Lobelia siphilitica. (Great blue Lobelia) Or Monarda. I can't see it very well.

I’m pretty certain it’s neither of those. But Lamiaceae of some kind imo. Any chance of more pictures, especially a straight on view of a flower? And can you tell us the dimensions? Is the foliage scented when crushed?

Well Houzz isn’t letting me post a pic and it’s really acting up with the typing (iphone) so I will try again later with another picture.

it was about 2.5’ tall mounding to 3’ spread. I didn’t rub the foilage didn’t detect a scent just being near it.

It looks a lot like a Nepeta, but I can't find a species, could possibly be a hybrid. Is this a cultivated plant being grown somewhere?

well we’re back from vacation and it is a cultivated plant. It was all around the perimeter of our rental with a drip line. This is the best close up I have
