Is that the only over head light in your kitchen? You will never get a brighter bulb in there that will not be glaring in your eye.

No. Not bright enough by a long shot. If you had four fluorescent bulbs in the old fixture, you may need at least three 75-watt-equivalent LED bulbs in a new fixture. They should be shaded from direct glare by a glass shade or similar.

maybe you can rehang it in your entryway, guest bathroom, a stairwell. but not a kitchen as a major source of light.

Your right I have realized that there is so much more to everything .. so much derail ( that i foegt to think aboutit) when when you start updating/ remodeling...I wanted for the look but NEVER even cross my mind the light !🤦🏻‍♀️ I am actually thinking about talking to lighthing store... if not use elsewhere. Yes, I would be putting something that is just about light and possibly blends away this way the pendant over the sink is the star and not competing with another hanging light. this light is in the center of the room you can have some decoration to it but. Not sure what the finish of the lght over the sink is but these fixtures come in other finishes, just an idea. the directional is kichler and the semi-flush is Quoizel

It might be nice over the peninsula (if that what I’m seeing) possibly with another but only as one layer of lighting. You desperately need to add cans as general lighting, pendants are great for accent lighting.
