I think you're right, thanks! Going back to the tutorial I followed I definitely misread it. This was an attempt to save a dying plant, shockingly it's still alive but I gave up on even watering it. Managed to grab a slightly better piece before I get rid of it, this one is already a bit wilted but it does have a sucker so we'll see what happens.

Usually one needs a section of stem to propagate, not just leaf and petiole. It's really cool that your leaf grew roots! Some leaves can only grow roots. Like Coleus leaves. Unless there's a little bit of stem attached to the petiole, a leaf will root but only ever grow roots, never any new foliage. Please keep us posted on your results!

Ideally I would have taken a bigger piece, that's the best I could get off this plant but thank you for letting me know what to look for next time. So far it's already taken on some water and propped up a bit. I bet it will get roots again but we'll see about any top growth, I'll keep you all updated!

Well this is interesting. The newer cutting grew roots as expected, nothing else yet. The original one though is growing some odd-looking sprouts out of the stem. Might not be a lost cause after all...

Cutting #2 is growing too! There might be a bit of magic to this Aerogarden propogation station. I also had a tiny jade cutting which absolutely refused to root in soil, and after probably two months of trying I had about given up on it. It had about reached the end of it's water supply too -- the leaves were squishy, starting to shrivel, and deep red on the edges. I picked off the calloused end and dropped it in the Aerogarden with a humidity dome, and just a day or two later there were roots forming! Very happy to see the leaves puffed up a bit and returning to green today.

I'm excited to see how this progresses, it's cool to see that first cutting just sprouting out of nowhere. Now I need to do some research because I'm very curious how that works.
