Personally, I do not like pvc baseboards, so no I wouldnt use them. Wood would look much better.

PVC base best use is wet areas like bathrooms & laundry rooms. I would use wood base in the area in your pix.

I agree with PPF. You really don't want to look at wavy baseboard. Caulk & paint any gaps.

I don't know the quantities you'll need, but you might answer your own question when you compare the cost of PVC versus clear wood versus finger-jointed wood base.

PVC is great in places where it is warranted- bathrooms, basements, etc. I would NOT do it in a space where I had the option of primed FJ

He'll have to be a fast cutter. PVC melts running slowly through an electric miter saw and can leave nasty brown shadows at the joints. High end homes? Not a chance.
