I would paint ceiling same colors as walls. This creates an elevated look. If you want to try it, Marilyn’s Dress is a very nice pale blue. Here is it’s DNA. LRV of 77 so pretty reflective and it’s Chroma level us quite low (think graying).

Yes. A light blue/pale blue on ceiling wlll create height, expansion. It will not decrease the height.

If you decide to just use a white paint/i.e. the same paint on walls and ceiling - using a light fixture such as this, which incorporates the light blues, could also give a look and feeling of additional height.

I have 8 foot ceilings and white (American Clay plaster) walls. Our entry hall and living space have very light blue ceilings. I don't know that they create a height illusion, but right now I'm sitting under it and I like it.

I have 8 ft ceilings throughout the house - some are painted to match the walls, some have a little bit of a different color. I don't perceive a difference in perception of ceiling height, except in one room where the walls & ceiling are both a deeper yellow-tan - doesn't really lower the ceiling, but it does seem more noticeable - some would say a cozier feel.. I know that I wouldn't like a white ceiling with it, but another paler color would be better.

I have a color called "Transparent" by Valspar on my kitchen ceiling and love it with the pale aqua walls. Oxygen White is another very pale blue that you could look at.
