Datura blooms dying almost immediately

I've had dark purple Devil's Trumpets for a few years, but this white one was given to me last year so it's the first time I've grown it.

I had a flower to bloom last week, but it went from "just starting" to "falling off" overnight! Then I had another one start to bloom yesterday afternoon, and today it's falling off, too.

Yesterday at around 8pm:

And today, at around 1:30pm:

(That's asparagus fern at the base)

Thoughts on why it's dying off so quickly? The dark purple Devil's Trumpet that I usually grow lasts for 4 or 5 days!

It's in a full sun area that gets direct sun from around 9am until 3pm, then dappled sun for the rest of the evening. It's outside of the perimeter of sprinklers, so the water is rain and me watering from a can when necessary (which has only been twice so far this year).
