I am surprised the hosta is not in the HL. Perhaps if it is a new variety, the creator hasn’t sent pictures to the HL……..? I looked it up at hosta dancing queenQueen. Monrovia says it needs full to partial shade.New Hampshire hostas says it can take quite a bit of sun in the north, but it may burn the first year or two. Spring Hill Nursery also says shade to partial shade. Hopefu Hopefully someone here will share about their own.

My climate is different than yours despite the fact that we are technically in the same USDA zone. It's very dry here. No humidity like you have. And we are much closer to the sun so almost nothing here will do well in "full sun" especially afternoon sun. Reason I give all this information is because my experience may not be your experience.

But like beverlymnz4, I have mine on my East-facing side of my house, morning sun, with a good amount of dappled leaf cover. It has done beautifully in this spot. In the early spring, when it has that gorgeous chartreuse color, it's stunning. Now that we are in July, it is more of a bright green but still really pretty.

I love Dancing Queen. In fact, I am looking for another for my uncle. He has a lovely hosta garden but it is lacking a chartreuse.

I'm in zone 5b as well and mine grows like a weed in 1/2 to 3/4 sun no problems

I'm in zone 6 and I have four plants. Those in full sun are doing great; the sun does not shine fully every day here, though. It's a deer delicacy. They walk by the other hostas and munch on my beautiful Dancing Queens. Before the deer found them, they were growing fast and I was so excited to see how big they got. Oh well. I'm tired of fighting.

Mine are in dappled shade. Color looks great and haven't noticed issues yet.

Thanks everyone! I placed it in the location I mentioned today. Hopefully it will do well there and grow fast.

It has quite a different petiole pattern in that it has multiple stems springing up from the crown, rather than distinct eyes. The only one I've had like that before is a very fast grower.

It should be fine after it adjusts (this year) to those conditions. I grow mine in much more shade and I'm not happy with how quickly it goes green.
