Are there any sun tolerant blues?

I made a new bed last year which got only a little direct sun. Filtered sun mostly.
Last spring I planted a Blue Angel as the most prominent one, and to contrast with surrounding golds and a Sun King aralia. The bed has a soaker, and Blue Angel grew like a weed.
Then a neighbor took an old crabapple tree down this May. I hadn't thought THAT tree gave much shade.
But BA has damage. We also had a very late frost at the end of May, and BA was definitely well up at the time. I have other frost damaged hostas. In the case of this one, I don't know whether to blame the additional sun or the frost.
Since I really needed the blue constrast for all the golds I planted, I'm wondering : IS there a blue that can handle more sun?

Another blue that is supposed to be sun tolerant is Prairie Sky……however mine is in full shade and the blue is awesome.

The lighter leaves I believe are the second flush.

i dont understand if the plant was fully leafed out when the tree came down ...

you might want to see how the next flush takes to ambient light ... note the newest leaves in the center seem to be ok ...

Ken is right I’m sure……the BA’s leaves burned like that after the tree was removed? Right? So they are adjusting to new light conditions. As ken said the new leaves look good. The question I think is when those leaves come up all the way, will they burn? Only time will tell. BA is on the sun tolerant list. However with the crabapple tree gone, it may need time to reacclimate to it’s place in the garden. I have found that even my sun tolerant hostas burn the first year and some need shade protection. But the second year they do well.

Keep us updated on how well i’s doing.

Halcyon. My original one used to be in lots of sun and always looked great... now its shaded due to tree growth. My second one is in mostly full Kansas sun and seems to be doing just fine. No burning, just not quite as blue as the one in shade.

Honestly, I think Halcyon is my favorite hosta. It's just beautiful and tough as nails.

Powder Blue gets full sun pretty much all day. It gets some shade by 4-5 o'clock.

The 2nd pic taken a few days ago at the wrong time of day. It is very blue!

windy, I also love Halcyon, especially after reading about how it came about.

Powder Blue and Prairie Sky are gorgeous! I will look up the heights on those and keep my eyes open.
