Went back through a bunch of old (5 years plus) threads and discussions on Pros and Cons of an electric pool cover. We're now weighing up what to do, we're planning a simple 40 x 16 rectangular pool so it shouldn't be difficult for an electric cover. We're in Ontario so there is also snow issues to contend with.

So what did everyone end up using and how expensive has it been to maintain?
