I want to change the color of my front door to freshen up a bit. Any suggestions on color?

Maybe the blue like your flower pot? Looks like there’s blue in the house numbers too.

Be sure to research which paint types or brands may be most durable.

I love a blue door. In fact I painted my front door blue. I also think a bright melon color would be nice.

Paint the door a brown to match the roof and then add blue accessories.

I was thinking orange, or orangish red, like the flowers in the front (and your number sign). The house looks like it should be set in the mediterranean but the shrubs are formal, like an English garden. Maybe reducing the shrubs, or removing those close to the door and replacing with something more natural with less maintenance (and smaller) would open the space up and make it more inviting?

Right Julie! The house number sign and flowers match and would be an excellent choice for the door!!!!

The color you choose should be a color other than the roof, trim or siding for maximum impact. I like the melon idea as well as the suggestion to cut larger shrubs back and replacing with colorful native plants in order to open up the door front space and create a welcoming message. Good luck.

Here are two Sherwin Williams colors that might work.

I think color depends a lot on where you live...for instance, Orange would rarely be seen in the coastal southeast where pastels and vibrant blues are the colors of choice....You have a beautiful home...imagine yourself driving up to your home...what color would you just love coming home to?

The dark marine blue as suggested above - it would go with that beautiful blue sky! Also would provide more of contrast with the browns/tans.... which for color design purposes is in the orange family - if you look at a color wheel, blue is directly across from orange. You say you were thinking blue - I think you intuitively knew that blue would be the right contrasting accent color but maybe just needed some science to back up that opinion?

If you're feeling really bold, you could open up the feeling of the entry by painting the window above and next to the door all the same deep blue. Trim back or remove the square hedges on either side and add pairs of large and small potted plants, especially ones with some red blooms like your canna lillies. Here's a VERY rough sketch using my phone's very limited color palette 🎨and sketch features.
