How best to layout furniture w/ 2 focal points?

Looking to get all new furniture for my family room. My fireplace and tv are on different walls, like a right angle. How can I best arrange furniture when there are 2 focal points? Debating on getting either another sectional or 2 sofas. I’d also like to incorporate a recliner chair for my husband who has a bad back.

I don’t have many pictures of my room, but this is the current sectional I want to get rid of. The tv is on the wall to the right of the fireplace.

Thanks!

What if you had a regular sofa facing the fireplace, and then a couple of arm chairs facing the TV? It looks like a big room, and you can pull the couch and chairs away from the walls.

Personally I would downplay the TV. You need to be able to sit and watch it, but not necessarily make it a focal point IMO. Maybe a sofa and armchairs would work better.

You need a rug, for sure. I like this one because it has the black, white, gray of the room, plus a hint of the warm floor stain. Also, notice the size of the rug in the inspiration room photo.

Suggest a camel tone leather sectional. Actually, I like all of these pieces for your room from Burrow.

Is there a reason why you haven't put the t v over the fireplace? The room looks large enough and the mantel low enough to meet measurment requirements for watching in comfort.

I don't have any suggestion in regards dealing with 2 focal walls, but want to say that I LOVE your fireplace wall in pic #1. But I do agree on tv wall just simple and clean like the fireplace wall.

judianna20 - thanks so much for your ideas! I wish we could hang the tv above the fireplace (that would be my ideal spot) but it's way too high. It might not look it in these photos, but my mantle is 6 feet tall. so when sitting on the couch, we'd be straining our necks looking up to watch it (we tried when we first moved in).

always1stepbehind - thank you so much! The pictures with the couch are old, but the fireplace pictures are current. I found the art at Homegoods and the watercolor painting is of my yellow lab. An artist on etsy did it :)

brookneumann - thank you :) If I were to get 1 couch and 2 arm chairs, how would you suggest I configure them? Couch facing the tv and chairs flanking the fireplace?
