This is my first season growing Souvenir de la Malmaison. She had a great June first flush and she’s budding up for another round. However a few of the buds appear malformed. They are darker and look stunted. It doesn’t look like the typical balling that afflicts SdlM. We did have weeks of some extreme weather fluctuations in my SW Ontario z4b recently from scorching hot drought, then unseasonal cold, back to hot and humid/constant rain for days. The rest of the plant looks healthy and normal other than a few chomps out of leaves from larvae. Anyone else experience these kinds of buds before on SdlM or other roses?
