Is this door solid wood?

We are replacing the carpet in a bedroom. The bedroom door dragged on the old berber carpet. Now we are wanting to put carpet in that has some pile. The door may not even shut with the new carpet.

We are hoping this oak door is solid, and we will simply trim some off of the bottom of the door. I guess even if it isn’t solid we can put a piece of wood in the bottom to cap it off. Thoughts?

I am also wondering if triming the bottom of the door will cause the bottom to split/splinter. ???

Happens all the time. If the door is less than twenty years old it is veneer over a solid wood core. Older than that it’s solid wood. Both cut the same.

It looks to be wood bit impossible to tell from a photo of its solid or a veneer. Regardless put a layer of painters tape on the door first to reduce tear out.

I didn’t know if the type of door would be a good indicator if it was solid or not.

Surely I’m not the first to come across this door/carpet issue.

Even if it happens to be hollow there should be enough solid part on the top and bottom to allow for trimming of either end for adjustments.

It will be solid it will not be hollow. There will be wood and some sort of mdf/particle board inside. Definitely tape it and use a super sharp plywood blade (or as many teeth as possible).
