The bed is unusual, but you could design around it and keep it for a long, long time.

I'd shop around for Oriental furniture, red...(goes great with Revere Pewter) and it is hefty enough in size and style for the bed.

Not bad. I find the drawer detail a bit fussy with the bulkiness of the bed. The important question though is it in proportion to the bed? Without measurements of everything (wall, width and height of furniture pieces), it's hard to know if this will be a good option for your room. Fwiw, I wouldn't design around an element I felt "stuck with" without first considering if I could change that element to better suit my taste. For example, a simple fabric headboard cover would easily transform the look of that bed.
