Will Murraya set seeds?

It’s full of blossoms right now. Will it set fruit on its own?

    Which Murraya is this one?

looks like M. paniculata (Orange Jasmine).

if so then it should set fruit on its own.

There are some cultivars of Murraya so a bit hard to say if they will produce viable seed. They grow readily from cuttings so should be easy to propagate anyway.

I have Murraya paniculata var. ovatifoliolata which as a species plant should produce viable seed, although they're still a bit small at the moment.

Murraya koenigii is a commonly grown one but is a fast spreading noxious weed here. Seed are viable and have a very high germination rate.

    M. koenigii is Curry Leaf Plant: it has a different pointy serrated leaf.

    M. paniculata has a pronounced citrus smell. It was used as hedges in So FL . but it can harbor psyllid that spreads citrus greening, so they stopped selling it and in central FL they do not recommend growing it. bit it can be grown in other states and overwintered indoors like citrus.

i have seen hedges of Curry Leaf in Mounts bot garden in Palm Beach county : very pretty! and obviously they wont grow it if it weren’t allowed. and people ask for it a lot too for cooking, but i have not seen it for sale.

    M. paniculata is a native here so grows all over the place. It's popular in gardens as it flowers most of the year and has a great fragrance. It also has a bit of drought tolerance.

    M. koenigii isn't a native here but some people grow it without controlling it's flowering and birds spread the seed. Every part of the plant has a very strong stench which is noticeable even if you brush slightly against a small seedling. After pulling up seedlings you can't get rid of the smell on your hands regardless of washing with soap. I haven't seen it for sale but for those so inclined it's not difficult to get as seedlings come up all over the place.

From the looks of the sun brightly on that plant and the abundance of flowers, I would say you live in a very warm climate region...Mine sparsely flowers and this year has gone bananas because it's been so humid and warm I am loving it. Not that many flowers though like yours.

    Thank you Tropicbreezent

The plant is still very small. It has surprised me with abundant flowers.

    Thank you Petrushka

When I repotted this plant last year I somehow lost the label. I just remember that it is Murraya. I appreciate your identification and conformation on it setting fruit.
