In Europe they are common, like induction ranges, which are also wonderful. Here we have not caught up because apparently the fabricators are not ezperienced with them. i hoped to get porcelain but everone here warns against it for the reasons you cite.

@artsfan I’m seeing a lot more houses using it here too but I agree it needs to be a good installer who has the experience which is the challenge. Anyone here know of anyone who can install large porcelain slabs with precision and quality installation?

There's a thread where a fabricator was recommending people. I think it had Dekton or Neolith in it.
