Doesn't black absorb heat instead of reflecting it?

It seems that either your house will be hotter if you paint it a dark color, or your air conditioner will have to work harder.

We have very strict building requirements here in California when it comes to energy efficencies. This house is clear cut cedar, the wood is sealed and protected. The color is a mixture of semi translucent brown and black stain. The house has numerous structural and non structural thick board formed concrete walls. The windows are Black Anondized Commercial Grade with double and tripple pane. Supe Energy Efficent. The house has proper insulation where needed. No problem from our end and are very happy with with our contractor Trainor Builders for doing such an amazing job.
