Joints looks big, a good indication that these floors are pre-finished floors. Which means the finish is a chemical stain. The finish is most likely a UV cured oil, which is trending. Your weathered oak will never match, since it is a pigment stain. You need a chemical stain, search Ciranova.eu

As far as wood specie, hard to say, the image is blurry when zoomed in. It can be a soft wood like pine.

A European Oak that is smoked or Fumed will look like this. White Oak can take on this colouring with a bit of effort and PLENTY of knowledge. Like 3 day floor-finishers course for pros (many chemical companies offer 'free' courses at their headquarters...you just need to pay for travel and accommodation).

I know Ash can turn to this colouring after a while (the Ash tree gets it's name from its colour). But Ash starts out quite yellow/fresh looking and then it tones down to this type of colour with UV fading.

...so I can't figure it out on my own with a few stains, then? LoL. Thank you.

I just wanted to update you both. You have answered MANY of my questions on multiple threads about flooring and stains, either directly or indirectly. My husband and I have been building our home (and as I've said, he is in the business, so we are a little more experienced than some, but certainly not the experts you are.) We finally reached the floors, and I've been on a journey for the last two years. Based on your advice , I started down the rabbit hole of options, looking at reactive stains, waxes, oils, even different wood species and cuts, and so on. I thought I was going with Ciranova Un1co in Smoke and Fortico, but the wood we purchased had so much red tannin, that option disappeared since anything with white/cream looked like pepto. (The supplier's samples didn't quite reflect their shipped product.) Even Bona Naturale looked like Salmon on the wood.

I just wanted to show you how they all turned out. These are unfinished engineered white oak that we coated with Loba Invisible Protect and then 2K Supra AT. The "fumed" look is simple age and cut. I personally think they look pretty similar to the inspiration photo in my original post, though a bit lighter. The first picture is the accurate color.

I followed your advice to the letter on the Loba application, and ended up with no tannin lines, (except in the first room's closet where DH was ignoring your advice)...not even any poly lap marks....Thank you, thank you, thank you! If I ever have the opportunity to send business your way, I will. We could not have gotten here without you.
