Christmas Tree Closet

I have always had a dream of a Christmas Tree closet. I have never seen anyone do it and I wanted opinions. My husband and I have been just too busy the last couple years and we never get around to getting out the xmas tree, or we are stressed on xmas eve getting it out and setting it up. So the idea would be a first floor closet big enough to house a fully decorated fake christmas tree on wheels such that right after Thanksgiving, I would just roll it out, plug it in and put a tree skirt on it to cover the wheels. We are about to start an addition to the house and he surprised me by drawing this closet into the plans. Behind the tree would be some shelves to house the rest of the christmas decorations so I could quickly decorate the rest of the house and not have to lug stuff out of the basement. Has anyone seen this done before and what do you think? :)

I think if you have dreamed of a Christmas tree closet, and your husband designed it into the plans as a surprise, you have totally married the right guy. And he deserves a really good present this year.

I know several people that keep their tree decorated and store it in an attic or storage room, so a closet is basicially the same idea. I am always jealous of these people. So, yes, your idea rocks!!!

Make sure your addition can house some elves to help with other Christmas related items :-)

i have this in my house now and I put 3 trees on wheels in it plus all my wreaths and decorations my builder ask me what that room was for and he said no one had that much Christmas stuff and then he came back when it was full I am in process of building another house and I definitely have one drawn in on my plans

Oh, how I envy you this. I dream of a closet where not only the tree could go but also special racks for wreaths, a custom box for antique and vintage ornaments that are unusual sizes, and rolling things for the lights (like you put a hose on but that you can roll with a hand crank) as well as custom drawers for miscellaneous things.

This is a great idea. I had a similar idea pop into my head a few days ago and found this discussion searching for images. I've decided it's either this or no more Christmas trees ever. It takes so long to decorate our tree that my wife and I decided that it's not worth it anymore. But if we had a Christmas tree closet it would make it worth it. For now that's completely impossible without moving, so it's more a vision board idea for now.
