Kitchen nook inspiration

Our kitchen has a small bump-out where a bay window style area was put in place of patio doors Im looking for ideas on how to neaten the area up and make it less awkward/more useful. The little table is the only place for people to congregate in the kitchen. We don't have a bar, peninsula or island.

The area is 6 feet wide and 3 feet deep. We use the area to feed the cats and store glass recycling. i would love if someone could share some virtual mock ups. Thank you!

I'd put a long, deep, upholstered bench under the window. Get one with open legs so you can still put the cat bowls underneath. It would provide another place for people to sit, and you could even pull your table over there when you wanted to use it for extra seating around the table. I would also get a larger round table. Your current one looks undersized for the space. You may be able to use your current one as a tall end table in another room. If this is your only dining area, I'd get a round table with a leaf so you can expand it when you have company.

If you need more seating, is there room to eliminate the console table and then replace your round table with an oval or rectangular table that extends into the alcove? I agree with Sammy J. that your space is really nice and inviting as is.

Can I be entirely unhelpful and ask where you got your kitchen chairs?? And are they comfortable?
With regard to your nook, maybe remove the console table and put a nice comfy chair for reading by window light?

Thank you for all of the feedback. i agree the round table feels a little too small, but i had a designer insist this was the right size. weve also had a much larger round farmhouse table there as well as a rectangle. i think round is right but maybe 34 inches instead of 31.

love the upholstered bench idea. i hadnt thought of that!

the chairs are very comfy. i think i found them on way fair about a year ago. sturdy too!

and we do have a proper dining room that we eat meals in. this table is just for hanging out. people always like to be in the kitchen

your kitchen is similar to dakota johnson,s LA house. in her kitchen she had a nook similar to yours. i recommend you to take a look at her open door video maybe it helps.
