Thanks. I don't think it's LoS, I remember googling it when I bought it and it was definitely a creamier yellow not a peach/orangey rose in all the official photos. I don't know if the new orangey shade is due to the heat or the fertilizer my father-in-law gave it when it was 'visiting' his for a few weeks prior to our move. I have Jude the Obscure and agree it's definitely not that.

It's fragranced but not an especially distinctive scent.

Could it be Graham Thomas? Or Charles Darwin, Charlotte, The Pilgrim, Teasing Georigia?

OK, I went back to double check because what threw me off was the roundish, slightly oval leaves on your rose. GC's leaves look pretty roundish, too. So, seeing the pics above of GC, what do you think? It can quite golden rather than a straight yellow. Diane

Oh, my GC is huge, 8-9 feet, grafted and a continuous bloomer. I've grown it for about 13 years at least. It's one of my favorite Austin's. Diane

I think i would have remembered Roald Dahl, it was a more generic name.

looking at those and other GC photos i think itcould be that. in which case i need to think carefully about where to put it5 in case it gets huge!

What zone do you garden in? Places with zones colder than 7 are probably going to grow a GC smaller than mine because of more winter dieback. It will take a few years, depending on your zone, for GC to achieve mature size, too. I remember my plant took about three years. In California, it would be possibly less time. Diane

We are in central italy so hot summers and cold (but not extremely cold) winters, not sure what zone that is equivalent to. But DAs tend to get bigger than stated on the UK site (and different rootstock is used i think). so im guessing it could get big fast.
