They can be anything you want them to be. I would prefer mine to match, but, that doesnt mean you are wrong to mix them, if it pleases you. I dont like it though, when someone has all wood, and just paints the baseboards and nothing else. To my eye, that looks ridiculous. I dont mind doors left another color or wood, and just the trim painted.

I also agree with cat_ky. Paint your home any color you want❣️My walls and trim are all antique white as I have some colorful curtains, colorful pictures, colorful cabinets, medium colored wood furniture, and felt antique white walls and trim would showcase them best ❣️

You could just paint one wall in different colors and take a few days to see if you like it.
