need help with bathroom

We are trying to reconfigure the master bath in new build. We are removing the tub, but wanting to make the walk-in shower bigger and add a linen closet. The bathroom dimensions are 9’x 11’The contractor ordered a 2’x 5’ transom window for in there
instead of the 2 windows. Attached is a picture of what the original layout is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How much larger of a shower are you wanting? its at least 3’x 5’ or 6’ now.

It’s 3x6 now. The contractor wants to make it 42” wide. He said he could put a linen closet in there or floating shelves. Not sure how that is going. Seems you have a lot of space where the tub was.

So the transom is meant to go in the shower?

I’m not sure what he’s planning on doing with it. What would you suggest?

Well if the transom is going in place of the window on the plan, the shower can be where the tub is. Or, the shower can be where drawn, and the transom can be above a nice built in for linens.

Yes, the transom is going in place of the window. Hmm, that’s an idea.

Picture yourself in a tiny windowless room with a toxic odor overwhelming you. Do you really want one of those in your home??

I think the toilet is private enough. Making it with no door allows you to have a longer vanity.

If you want you can swap the layout and add a window above the toilet.

EDIT: If a door in the toilet area is a must, you have room to put one facing the cabinet but it should swing outward and it should be 24" wide. Personally, I prefer no door.

Suzanne's idea is good, even if you don't flip the whole room but leave it like your original post. Just put the shower where the tub is now, with transom over it, and put the toilet where your plan shows the shower. No door needed. Then, where the toilet was, can be cabinet, with base an extension of the vanity (for tp and feminine hygiene) and the upper shallower cabinets coming almost to the countertop but not quite. Space for display, or for charging the toothbrushes, or for pretty containers of necessities.

Perhaps access into the laundry room from the Master bath, or at least a hamper/chute into the room from the bathroom? Can you place the linen closet where the toilet is located above so the bottom of the cabinet can hold a hamper with a door opening into the laundry room?
