The big slow down, a new bloom

The blooming is definitely winding down here. I took a look at a new gardening zone chart and found out I am now 5b…..global warming?

Sailor Sky is having a good season.

Pizza Crust is also doing well this season, it started about a week earlier than usual.

Stone Palace Divine had a terrific season, it’s third here.

A duo for Zuzu’s Treasure.

Fancy Buttons, one of several doubles I have.

Sea Dragon is an eye catcher in the garden, a late midseason bloomer.

First bloom on Forest God, not the best photo but it was added this spring, didnt expect any blooms on it.

The clumps grabbed my eye too, just lovely. Forest God looks good to me, especially since you just got it in spring. Most of my spring arrivals did not bloom at all or tried but buds dried up. Of the few that did bloom only a couple looked like they should.

I agree with Julia-you have some great clump shots. Your Pizza Crust always looks so good as does Sailor Sky.

The zone charts don't take into account all the ravages of spring freezes. This past winter was not exceptionally cold, but a number of plants were affected by spring weather, I assume. You seem to have a number of Stone Palace cultivars. Which ones do you like the most?

I have two Stone Palace daylilies, Divine and Trailblazer. They have both done great here, Divine has performed a bit better. The hybridizer is in Michigan and the fans he sent were big and sturdy and have matched his stats on the third season here.

Wonderful clumps! My favorites are Zuzu and Sailor Sky.

I can look at different charts to find my zone slightly different. I don't think there is one set authority of what zones are labeled as. Of course if you had lived in the middle ages, you'd probably have been in something like zone 3. Greenland was farmed and quite lush back then.
