Landscaping Ideas

I could use some ideas on what to add to our garden. We have 2 walls in our garden there is currently nothing behind them besides rock. Could use some ideas on what to plant behind them as I'm unsure how much you'll be able to see from the curb.
Also tore out all the plants on the side of the house as they were dead so could use some ideas for the side of the house as well.

if you want plant suggestions.. you have to tell us where you are.. big city name ...

id probably work with pots inside those walls .... you really dont have any space for shrubs or trees ...

plus the pots will give you the height to get them perennials over the wall height ...

also.. what direction does the house face ... any sun hit that area .. does it get hot from direct sun???

How much room is behind those little walls? I ask bc we sit out front on the deck often, so I’d wsnt to use it for that, and have the gardens in front of the wall. unless theres not space for that then nevermind!

Beautiful home! How many feet are there between the wall and the home??? It looks like 3-4 feet? You would need much bigger pots to fill that area with perennials. Would you consider removing the white rock and fill the area with soil that you could plant in? Then you could consider things like coneflowers, phlox, shasta daisies, bee balm……..the number is endless.

Looks like there is about 5 feet between the walls and the home! There is soil beneath the rock so I definitely would be able to plant in there just raking the rocks back to plant!

if you find landscape fabric.... remove it all ...

what are the utilities there ... i figure the capped one is sewer.. but what is the other one ...

i would probably ignore the side of the house ... do you give tours over on that side???

you might also want to come out into the lawn ... and add some flowering trees ... or shrubs in the lawn .. and just forget about planting withing a few feet of the house.. never forget.. foundation plantings are to hide the foundation.. NOT PLANTED ON THE FOUNDATION...

ergo.. that little strip on the side of the house is rather useless .. and if you want to plant anything there .. it should be widened to 3 to 5 feet .. done right ...

your house is what.. 15 to 20 feet tall.. and all the plantings are within 5 feet of it.. and that is why it looks so out of whack .... if that flowering plant.. tree??? had been planted 10 or 15 feet out.. it would have been an impact plant.. as it stands now its getting to big... for being too close ... and no.. i wouldnt move it .... its probably not worth the effort .. without big machinery ....

ps: sometimes you just want to track down an architect or builder and ask them.. what were you thinking.. designing that space in that manner ... did you just have extra brick.. or just want to get the job done ... crikey dude.. or dudette ...
