Kitchen Layout Help?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for help deciding on a layout for a kitchen renovation. My current kitchen blocks off a formal dining area, which doesn't make sense for us (currently a kid playpen area). I want to open up that wall as much as possible, and I'd love to expand the kitchen to get more storage space. I plan to replace cabinets and appliances (except dishwasher). I've attached several layout ideas, but im struggling to decide because I seem to be stuck deciding between a good sized island, decent dish storage near the dish washer (left of sink), and fridge placement. The current gas hookup for the stove is along the wall, and the doorway leads to the laundry room and can't be moved. I don't love the idea of moving the stove (but open to it) or a skinny island, so im leaning towards proposal 1, but will it look strange to have the island not run the length of the kitchen? It also creates a 3' walkway from corner to corner, which I don't love... all ideas welcome! If only I could move the darn stairs!

We need a to scale floor plan with no appliances or cabinets marked . All meaurements clearly marked all doorways and windows where the doorways lead then provide us with this on graph paper the drawing able to be enlarged . This way you get real help here. If you are planning on removing a wall you need to find out if that is possible within your budget before planning any of this.

Can you add plumbing to an island/peninsula? Since there isn't enough space to have an island with seating running parallel to the range wall, you could add a prep sink for separate work areas, and make the prep area m/l a galley style. I didn't add uppers or cabinet sizes, but this is the idea:

I put the trash on the corner of the island, where it would be easy to share between the zones, but a MW drawer could go there, and trash to the left of the prep sink (as one faces it). Alternate location for the MW would be to the right of the DW--either a drawer or in an upper cab.

Fridge and range could be switched, depending on where the most traffic to fridge enters the kitchen, and in either location, a side-loading pantry could be added. I normally like the fridge location to be on the periphery, but if you put it to the left of the clean-up zone, the prep triangle would be less efficient, and it would be farther from the DR.

Drawers facing the DR could store linens, holiday table decor, games, homework supplies, etc. That end of the counter could double as a serving area.

@mama goose - what a cool idea! I like that so much better than trying to squeeze in an awkward island or the current peninsula, which is basically a waste of space so far out from the cooking area. With your layout in mind, do you think the fridge on the left would make the corner feel tight? Traffic-wise I do like that better, though, as the porch and main walkway from the living is on that side of the house
