This is just using MS Paint, but it gives you an idea of what it could look like.

The slope and the overhang of the front facing gable would be the same as the existing house. You have to allow room for a stair. I am also assuming the height would be lower than eight feet around the perimeter, but it could be vaulted.

I would remove the shutters, since your windows are not right for them and get a new door without an arch.

This door would look great.

Hi Hannah, I think the enclosed patio is the most alpine-contrary thing about the house, and not what you want. Stained wood columns would look níce...paint a deep green or blue and definitely remove the shutters
