Looking for a rose that may not exist... hopin for help

I am not even sure if a rose such as this exist... but I am hoping the people with all of their vast knowledge can maybe help.

I am hoping to find a rose that is either globular like Earth Angel or Geoff Hamilton BUT I am wanting it as a small size in about the same as Pink Pet or Caldwell Pink (1 inch size blooms) .... If a globular rose does not exist I am willing to take a rose that looks like Pink Pet or Caldwell Pink as long as it meets my other requirements.

I want it to NOT be overly thorny (pink pet is awful thorny)

I want it to be a bush that is at least four to feet in size

I want it to be PROLIFIC like Pink Pet.

I want it to be able to handle my zone 10

I want it to repeat

I want it to be a good cut flower

and..... and.... AND

I want it to have a STRONG scent.

I do not care what color as long as it is pretty....


Is there such a thing.... or may I be dreaming of great tasting ice cream that causes me to lose weight......

    hi there Sharon =),

    I am sorry I do not know of any rose that meets ALL of your requirements, hopefully someone else does. I do know of one that meets several.

    Pomponella by kordes has very globular small blooms, it is very prolific, makes a large bush and it is a good cut flower. It does not have a scent that I can tell and it has a good amount of thorns (I do not have pink pet so I do not know how it compares). In my experience Kordes really can take the heat and actually need it here, always preferring all day sun. Sorry for the ugly blooms, I do not deadhead my roses.

      Poseidon is continuous blooming & low-thorn & last long in the vase and has a strong scent (in my dense clay), but you already have it. I asked Pat Henry of Roses Unlimited for roses with CONTINOUS BLOOMING like Poseidon. Pat Henry recommends Dark Desire (you already have it). Pat also recommends Heaven on Earth and Bliss Parfuma as continuous blooming. Heaven on Earth did well for a person in high-rain & sandy soil NC.

      All of the Kosters have the globular bud and flower form. They are tidy habits with lots of bloom and come in many colors. Yet they are not particularly fragrant.

      Thank you magpie! that combo was sort of an accident. I had already planted Blue Angel to go with madame annisette who is behind, but I had to move pomponella from an area with less sun and I jammed it into that crowded bed. 😁

      ' Duchess de Brabant' comes to mind, she meets all of your criteria but 2, she does not last long in a vase, and the blooms are closer to 3-4 inches wide. However being an Old Garden Tea she blooms early in the year through late autumn, here near San Francisco, Ca and has rapid rebloom. Plus has a very high bloom count per square foot of canopy. Moderate fragrance. . Lux.

      P.S. a neighbor who grows only modern roses pointed at D. de B. blossoming in my front yard, and asked "What is THAT rose and how does it produce so many roses?

      Thanks for everyone's suggestions.... I love all of the looks of the roses that everyone posted. However, I was just hoping to get something where the rose itself was no more than 1 to 1/2 inch in size.... kind of like Caldwell Pink.... or Mother's Day..... Caldwell Pink has no fragrance, and Mother's Day is too short....

      I have Pomponella as well and agree it meets your requirements for bloom size and shape. It has thorns and a very light fragrance for me, mostly in the cool of the mornings. It blooms prolifically.

      Don't know why I didn't think of this one sooner, but what about Aunt Margy's rose? Mine is not even a year old yet but has quite a few of the qualities you're looking for. No pictures, but check out Ingrid's photos from some of her past posts. That's what made me think about trying it. I have no idea how well it will do as a cut flower since I rarely cut mine and bring them inside.

      What about Jude, Wollerton Old Hall, or Mme Figaro? I know at least Jude and Mme Figaro are supposed to be better in warmer climates.

      It is........quite dead. Not sure why, but I probably didn't get it in the ground fast enough. Story of my life.

      My WOH is finally starting to take off. I gave one to my mother in law at the same time as I got mine and hers has been very vigorous with several flushes already.

      It's not globular but how about Perfumed Breeze? The blooms are very full, only an inch across, highly fragrant, and it's almost thornless. Repeat is constant and it is my most vigorous grower of my new-this-year additions.

      I have a WOH and it is barely doing anything..grafted, so I am going to try to root a cutting.


      I just caught this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5SKH3sF_7c it is a rose garden tour with some amazing roses...Sharon, it might not have any that fit your list....but a bunch of amazing roses...some that I badly want from Germany.
