What kind of tree is it? I assume the damage is recent?

In general assuming its not an oak where sudden oak death is a thing, you are probably best off not doing much.

Nothing to do except protect it from further damage if it was animal-done. Looks like it might have been healing for a while.....

can we have a location.. big city name..

a tree ID .... if you dont know.. pic of leaves will help us figure that out ...

and perhaps a day pic will help ... i dont quite know what i am looking at ...

99% of the time... the simple answer is.. let the tree take care of itself .. do nothing ... and who needs to discuss the other things unless the tree ID indicates ..

Looks like there's alittle healing, but from those views, that looks like there's adjacent bark that's continuing to die. Not sure if it'll make it....

@bengz6westmd That's really sad is there anything I can do to help it or stop it from dying......The tree is really special to me

Any bark chewers in Bangalore like porcupines? I’m guessing Black Plum by you is Syzygium cumini?
