I love that ceiling! I agree with Patricia that I can’t see that chair in the space. Have you considered a soft gray linen bedding? You could add an easy to wash throw overtop for when the pets are on the bed to hopefully keep it a little cleaner. Photos of the furniture would help!

It’s a fun space. I don’t want anything in the house to be “stuffy”. The ceiling doesn’t look serious when you are in the room. I’ll see if I can find a picture of the furniture.

Here’s a stock photo. It’s not recently purchased but something we are taking from the house. The chair hasn’t been decided on. I found a fun dark blue one at HomeGoods I was considering.

The ceiling will be prominent and perhaps a touch heavy, so suggest heading towards a calmer retreat feel (could see your fabric choice in a family room).

Furniture plays a big role and since it‘s dark/heavy, suggest creating a soft, light casual look with layering of pattern.

Add whimsy with art.

Please post an image from the "fun print recliner from Lazyboy" looking up that ceiling that is painted white and "navy to make it pop". I envision the view a fly has as the swatter approaches.

I would not do that. It's already popped. Also, there is no need to bring an exterior color of the home to your bedroom's ceiling. Sometimes you gotta give your eye a chance to rest.

My mother wants some new bedding and a few weeks ago I spent hours looking at all the site, both budget and really expensive. I found nothing! Didn't see nice colors and/or patterns. You know your choices are sparse when you don't even find something you love at the really expensive sites! Good luck with the search :-)

I love the ceiling but I would not paint it a high contrast color unless that is something you are already doing in most other rooms.

Appreciate the input but not changing the ceiling. My designer came up with the suggestion and I love it. And yes, we have several other rooms with interesting ceilings. Thanks all!

Maybe your designer has a suggestion and many sources for the bedding?

You might tie the recliner into the room with a long wide pillow in the chair fabric on the bed?

And maybe the pale blue from the lazyboy fabric or a brown/espresso also from the fabric to relate to the wood furniture from the lazyboy fabric for the ceiling for a softer contrast than is suggested by the navy blue?

If you are going fun, you could order a companion fabric to the chair fabric thru lazy boy and have a thin quilt made for the top of your bed when the pups are near. Lazyboy has lots of fabrics that will coordinate with one another and can be ordered by the yard......

Another option - I had a bedspread made by Calico Corners in the fabric/color I wanted. Yes, it is pricey, but if you are the type that keeps your decor for many years, then I think it is a worthwhile "investment" to have something you love that you get to see and use every day.

I really like this one at pottery barn but I’m not a fan of the price tag.

You originally wanted fun and not light, due to your dogs, and it’s neither. I also think it could feel washed out due to navy ceiling and your dark furniture.

If you are now ok with going lighter, a white duvet cover (try Ikea) is a great choice as it can be soaked in oxy-clean and occasional bleached - add your personality when accessorizing.

One last thing, it’s important to consider the feeling you want as a whole and navy will be an important factor for ceiling to work.
