Pretty easy to look up. In the US? Some states have diff codes but most are based on IBC. Your architect should know.

"For determining egress window sizes and placement, the International Building Code advises that every bedroom must contain at least one egress window. It must be at least 5.7 square feet, that is at least 20 inches wide by 24 inches high, with an opening no higher than 44 inches from the floor."

Sorry, I missed giving location. I’m in Ontario Canada. We are not using an architect as we designed it ourselves.

Check your local codes. We ended up having to add a landing to the basement staircase to be able to meet the egress codes for the windows in our lightwell. The lightwell also needed a metal emergency ladder and railing at ground level with a gate.
