Seems it would still work with your current cabinets and make everything lighter especially is you are also updating your backsplash. Of course if the finish on your cabinets have seen better days you could also go for a white or light color.

My first thought was “that counter will look amazing with those cabinets!”

My current cabinet shows lot of grains. I feel the quartzite is too speak and modern for this cabinet.

I don't think the slab is too modern (meaning it can go in many different style directions), but I understand about the grain. You will need them professionally painted in order to get rid of the grain. You could go white, light taupe/grey/griege, soft green, blue or navy or even charcoal/ black. Depends on the overall look you are going for. Look through some photos to get a better idea of the look and feel you want for the kitchen when finished.

If I had bought your house, I would want more drawers in the kitchen (or better yet all drawers, except sink cabinets). For that reason, I would wait till I had the budget to also update the cabinets along with the counters and backsplash. I did exactly that and got to the kitchen about 7 years after we moved in. We remodeled other stuff first that had higher priority, like bathrooms.

Cristallo quartzite seems to be all the rage right now—we’re getting at least three new requests a week to backlight this material. It’s absolutely stunning when lit from behind and really brings out the natural crystalline structure of the stone.

A few things to consider if you’re thinking about backlighting Cristallo:
• It works best with an ultra-thin edge-lit LED panel layered directly beneath the slab—no bulky boxes needed.
• The clarity and light transmission of Cristallo is excellent, but keep in mind that the veining and inclusions can affect how evenly the light distributes, which is actually part of the charm.
• Be sure to allow for a small air gap or use a clear acrylic layer to help diffuse the light more evenly behind the slab.
• Our panels are typically 1/4” to 5/16” thick, so they integrate easily into most countertop or backsplash applications without adding bulk.
