We're building a pool, 28' water line, includes 4' of tanning shelf. Trying to avoid the shelf looking like gray cement compared to rest of pool color. (the deeper the pool, the more color you get from the plaster). So, has anyone had experience in doing the main part of the pool one color of plaster and the tanning shelf/steps another color so that the tanning shelf isn't such a gray look?

The main color may end up being CL Industries Aqua Blue or Aqua White. This is a picture of dauther in law's pool, not CL industries, but pretty close to what we want. Note how you get no color on the tanning shelf.
