I read that winter squash can be planted 1 per square foot so I planted a row of 6. 1 in each square foot. Varieties are: 2 Kuri, 2 Dumpling and 2 Marina De Chioggia (in that order in the picture, from bottom of pic to top). Thinking bigger guy (marina) will crowd out small one (dumpling). I direct sowed them a few weeks ago.

Can I, should I move them? Will they get shocked? What kind of spacing do you think they need?
