Baptisia bloomed less this spring

I don't think I asked this question yet, please forgive me if I did. Did anyone else have far fewer blooms on their baptisia this spring? I wonder if it was just because it got too hot too fast? My baptisia is the original, if you will, false indigo australis. It's at least 18 years old from when I dug it from a different well-established garden, so it's not a young plant. I don't think it's declining because the foliage itself is huge and healthy in appearance. I've heard that sometimes they can just die out of nowhere, but the rest of the plant still looks fantastic. A few others in my area have also noticed the same thing when I asked them about it, to be honest, I don't know very many people who grow this plant personally. I was just wondering if anyone here had the same experience this year, or maybe know why it might have happened?
