Pete’s sink mount

Our GC had never installed a farmhouse sink before. I purchased a Pete’s sink mount think it would make the job way easier, better for aligning the top of the sink to the granite and for the flexibility of removing the sink down the line if we had too. We didn’t discuss the price for installation. (Lesson learned). I thought the price would be less due to less time cutting wood supports, less supplies. I feel like the price he is charging is too much based on me supplying the hardware. I realize prices are different all over the country. Is $255 an okay amount. He cut the cabinet for the apron front and installed the mount.

That;s cheap. Way cheap and I install Pesimokis for a living.

Thanks. I appreciate your help. What is pesimokis?

Do you use Pete’s sink mount?

Should I clarify to add that no plumbing was set up? Just the cut out in the cabinet and the mount. No plumbing at all.

I am in a pretty low cost of living area and that is cheap here. I am assuming he is doing a lot of other work for you and so just through this in cheap.

Cutting into an existing cabinet can have a plethora of complications and that carries a risk premium, because when it goes sideways, as it will sometimes, the job gets expensive for him real fast like.

The cabinet was from the company with just the cut out area - prepped for apron sink. It wasn’t an existing cabinet. New cabinets. Thanks for the help

The age of the cabinet is irrelevant. If he was the manufacturer's installer and the sink was specified in the order and he was making a field adjustment, then the risk is on them. However, then you have a finish carpenter installing a sink and the fee is reasonable for a finish carpenter, as they are expensive. If he is a third party installer or installing a sink that was not specified, then the age of the cabinet is largely immaterial. Thirty minutes or thirty years old it is the same result. If he messes up then it is on him, in which case you have a great deal.

Joseph Corlett, LLC - so even without any plumbing done- still a great price- so with pesimoski over 500 to install not including plumbing?

It’s beautiful. If the fireclay has issues- I’ll look into this one fitting into the same opening!!

    Very fair.

Only fireclay and cast iron sinks need a Pesimoki due to their weight. All other sinks can be successfully mounted with a $5.99 harness or a sink strap or two.

Risk premium for both the cabinet and the sink. Add a weight premium. How much does that bad boy weigh? Helper needed to lift it? How many times do you want to lift it?

$255 sounds really cheap. Says someone who removed a 126# cast iron sink (with help!) a couple of months ago & replaced with stainless steel.

Thank you. Apparently I am very ignorant!

Actually, the Pesimoki saves labor money. One man can safely install a cast iron sink; I've done it.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC The Pesimoki should be used to install a Kohler Whitehaven tall apron sink? Where do you purchase it as I doubt my contractor knows about this.

I bought mine online. It’s $300 with shipping. Arrived quickly. Make sure you GC doesn’t lose the foam adhesive strip…. Also- our door hinge was a little bit too high and got in the way of where the bracket needed to go in order for the sink to stick out enough.

33" tall apron single bowl Whitehaven weighs 130#; 36" weighs 146#. Dry, empty. The 36" sink could potentially hold over 21 gallons of water weighing almost 180 additional pounds for a total weight of 325#.
