What "feel" do you want the room to have? Have you thought about painting the chairs? I think you need a rug. The red curtains are very bright. Do you love them?

Before investing in new pieces you should try adding an area rug under the table. This can totally transform your room and give you a different feel. We have a great selection you should check out!

I think your table, chairs and buffets are lovely....but the jarring note is the curtains. I would look for something more the color of your buffet pieces.....and don't paint the chairs. That only cheapens the look.

Try taking down the curtains and temporarily hanging up a softly colored sheet...or get some curtains you can return and see how you like the simpler look.

And the addition of a tall plant in a corner near that big window would soften things a bit.

The dining table and chairs are perfectly fine. Maybe consider balancing the setting with another bench on the other long side and a chair at the both ends. 3rd chair could be against a wall. As others have noted the curtains are not in tune with the room. The suggestion of linen or a linen color would work well and can be coordinated with a rug or maybe a sisal mat under the table. A rug under the table will break up the wood which is currently dominating. I think once there is a visual break between the floor and the table your room will be a warm, friendly space to gather.
