I'm in a South Florida condo; all the windows are west-facing. They are, left to right, a guest room/home office (two windows); living room (three); master bedroom (two); the balcony from the condo above is over the three LR windows, so the light there is not as strong, I'd say.

I have a bird of paradise (bought Aug. 5) and a small croton in the home office; a parlor palm and a Janet Craig dracaena are in the living room (got them Aug. 7). Here are pictures of both rooms taken at the same time of day, 3:30 p.m.,

I have wood blinds, no curtains. In the photos, the blinds are raised all the way, but for a couple of reasons (AC bill; health of plants), I don't know if this is necessary. I kind of don't want to keep the blinds raised all the time, but I want to give the plants the lights they need to thrive.

What's the best situation here re: plant placement, blinds up/down/open, etc? (So far all the plants seem to be doing OK.)

Thank you for any advice. (I'm also new to posting to houzz, with one prior post, though I've been reading it a lot since I bought my first home. Please let me know if I've made any blunders with regards to posting, etc.)
