ceiling concern

Need some assistance as to what this may be. See some cracking going on in ceiling in from entrance. No water damage or leaking. Not well versed in drywall repairs etc. house is about 70 years old and this is on the first floor with bedroom above. Room hasn’t been painted in about 15 years

There may not be a visible leak, but that sure looks like moisture-caused separation. What does it feel like when you press up with your fingers in the area of the cracks, solid or loose?

Looks like it has been patched before, I’m guessing moisture. Was the ceiling ever wallpapered? Quite common in older homes and in some cases just painted over. Sometimes the paper can come loose and cause cracking as well.

I don’t believe that it was ever wallpapered. I was thinking it was moisture related over time that is causing separation
