A slim table below the window to the left on the door with a few knick knacks (candles, books etc) on it. Maybe a bowl to store keys and such.

Hello naudibis! You have a great area so far! Especially like the rustic orchid-and-beachwood centerpiece.

Your window is begging for a colorful and contemporary window treatment (see below for some visuals). The slim table idea of Katekingg's is also a good idea, but even a slim table may make passing through the hallway difficult.

Since the hallway is relatively narrow, it's best not to hang a curtain that will bunch on the floor or else guests (and yourself) could very easily trip, so make sure the bottom hangs at least an inch to two inches above the floor. The curtain needs to hang 3/4's of the way up from the top of the window sill to the crown molding. You may need to have a curtain custom sewn for you to reach the appropriate length.

Also, for color, a soft, sheer yellow to accentuate the yellow in the orchids would be pretty.

For the wall perpendicular to the window wall, I would recommend a medium-sized, tastefully-colorful contemporary piece of artwork and perhaps a low bench (if you don't use the slim table idea). Check out Terracegallery for some beautiful art pieces: http://www.houzz.com/pro/sharon-cummings9763/terracegallery.

The only snag there, though, would be the object that's installed right in the middle of the wall. What exactly is it? It's hard to see in the pictures.

You could install a narrow 6-8" shelf under the mirror to help ground the space. A few decorative items on top.
If there is room for a narrow console table maybe half round at the end of the hallway with a large artwork or two narrow coordinating artworks above.

I suggest lightweight window treatment in sheers with contrast 'light' color/s to work with your wall color and furnishings. Too strong colors will feel more closed in.

I would like a shiny mirror like wallpaper on the mirror wall. Soft subtle colors. It will brighten the space and create more interest.
Or maybe a landscape or window design wall paper or hand painted faux window to create depth to the space.

I'd put a big plant, like a parlor palm or ficus in that corner.

I would put a medium height bookcase (in a dark wood to go with your table) on the wall that is perpendicular to the window and decorate the bookcase with books, a framed photo or two, a plant on top... Maybe a nice tall candlestick... A little bowl for keys or something. Perhaps a floor plant to the side of the bookcase, or an umbrella holder if its appropriate for your climate? I have a bookcase about the height of my chest with 3 shelves that I got from Target and I've found it to be very versatile.
Are you going to paint the walls? Looks like you have a pretty color on the walls in the hallway behind... maybe something to contrast that and bring it into your dining room? It would be nice to see that pretty crown moulding stand out. I would also like to see a softer window treatment. Do you need the blinds for privacy or would soft sheers and a valance be enough?
I like your accessories so far! :)
